Sabai Fitness - Moving forward faster

Had a great meeting with Wade, AJ, and Melissa at Simpsonville First Baptist yesterday afternoon. It's great seeing the momentum start to build. We all committed to doing the 90 days together beginning today. Part of that was measurements and I did them, including a one mile run. I was quite pleased that I knocked out an 11 minute mile even though I haven't been running much later. My fastest mile time over a 5k distance was 10:38, so after this 90 day focus, I may be able to beat that.

Biggest Loser was quite inspiring last night. They all completed a marathon. Two of them walked and two of them ran. The times ranged from 4:55 to 13 hrs. Dr. Greer and I talked this morning about a marathon, as we've both realized that it's a lot more possible than I thought.

Just for fun I figured I'd see what my time would be if I could maintain an 11 minute mile over the whole 26.2 miles. That would be an 4:48 marathon. I'd be psyched!

Sabai CORE

I've been working on getting Sabai Fitness (the business) set up. I've got a book that I've written to coach someone through weight loss. I've got a database of 7000 foods and their calorie content including a special indexing method I've developed. This morning during a run, I could finally see it!

For Sabai Fitness to succeed in helping others lose weight, I want a system that is simple, powerful, easy to follow, and based on the truth. That's where the Sabai C.O.R.E. comes in.

Sabai is a Thai word that means health, wellness, peace, and balance. That's what we're really looking for in weight loss! When the focus is only on dropping weight, people will do some crazy things to accomplish it. They'll create more imbalance to force the weight off and then are surprised when it all comes back with a vengeance.

The key to losing weight and keeping it off is to create a healthy physical core that is in balance. That's where the Sabai CORE comes in!

The Sabai CORE is based on four foundational concepts that will bring your body back into health and balance.

C - Cardio Movement - Each day should have cardio movement as part of it. Start off with 45 minutes which you can break into several 15 minute blocks if you need to.

O - Optimum Hydration - Your body needs water! Drink enough water so that your urine is clear or very lightly colored. This will be about two liters or more for most people who are doing cardio movement each day.

R - Rest and Recovery - Your body needs time to repair and strengthen after workouts. Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night and take one day off from workouts each week.

E - Eat Healthy Foods - Your body craves healthy and natural foods. The closer the food is to its natural state, the better. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, and dairy without a lot of processing.

It's this core that creates this sense of "Sabai" in your body. By working on the Sabai C.O.R.E. daily, you'll bring your body back in to health and balance.

You can do it!
