Consistency - Day Two

Consistency means doing what you've committed to.

Some days, its easy. You're feeling great... everything is going your way... and the sun is shining.

Other days, it can seem like everything is a challenge. You're not feeling strong... you're distracted by other things going on... and it's raining!

It's those days... the tough ones, that build the character of consistency. Everyone can do the easy days... True strength is developed on the days that are tough.

I plan on adding to this blog daily... rain or shine... as I follow this path ahead.

The Power of Consistency

There is an amazing power to consistent action.

Back in December, I began lifting weights with the doctors that I work with. I became sore all over again! Each day, we focus on a different area like legs, abs, back and biceps, shoulders and triceps, etc. I had never done weights for a long period, so I wasn't sure what results were in store for me.

Over the past 3 months, I have gained a lot of definition in my muscles and my goal to is become "ripped" during the coming year. More importantly, I've gained a love and drive to continue the weight lifting.

Yesterday was a snow day and we didn't get together at the gym. I got in my cardio work by moving lots of snow but didn't get to the gym to lift weights... I miss it! My muscles are screaming to lift something heavy!

One of the best things gained is a change in self concept. I've always believed that my legs were strong but my upper body was weak... That's changing. My legs are strengthening but my upper body is becoming strong as well. When I began, I would use 170 lbs of assist on the pull-ups, meaning that I was lifting about 100 lbs with each pull-up. Three months later, I'm using 100 lbs of assist and have dropped 10 lbs. That means I'm lifting 160 lbs with each pull-up. Eventually, I'll be doing pull-ups without assist for the first time in my life.

Consistent action creates powerful results!
